Welcome to Tryon Presbyterian Church. Our doors are always open to you, and our traditional worship service is both inspiring and uplifting.

Our church was established in 1922. The current building, designed by Holland Brady, was built in 1954 and renovations were done in 2017. For almost 100 years, Tryon Presbyterian has been a vital part of the Polk County Community.

Our last full-time minister, Rev. Dr. Dent Davis, retired in 2017. Since then, we have been shepherded by Rev. David Garnett as interim pastor who led the church through an extensive process to determine who we are, and where we want to go. Using that information, our Pastor Search Committee worked tirelessly for almost 18 months and as a result, has enthusiastically and unanimously called the Rev. Dr. Allan Purtill as our new full-time minister. He and his family, wife Jenny and children Syler and James, will officially be here on Sept. 9, 2019 and Pastor Allan will preach his first sermon on Sept. 15. The Purtills are coming from Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC, where he served for ten years.

This is an exciting time for TPC! We look forward to growing spiritually, serving the community and each other under Pastor Purtill’s leadership. Learn more here: RevDrPurtill_brochure.pdf
